I decided to embark on this museum quest because like many New Yorkers, I don’t make the time to take advantage of all the rich culture we have in our city. A little about myself.  My name is Melissa. I am 46 years old, happily married, mother of an 11 year old daughter and step mother to 22 and 26 year old sons.  I have lived in NYC for over 22 years.  I dedicated the past 12 years of my life to philanthropy.  I was on various boards, committees and PA president of my daughter’s school.  I have said many times that I worked harder for no pay than I ever did when I was getting a salary.  I am very proud of the organizations that I have been involved with and they have pushed me to do extraordinary things like run the 2014 NYC marathon and the 2015 Mount Kilimanjaro half marathon in Tanzania to raise awareness about Domestic Violence and Maternal Health.  I will continue to be involved with charity but I also want to do something for me. A challenge to put myself out there and try something new, like a blog. Last year I was sitting in a committee meeting and someone said “I was on the subway to this exhibit in Brooklyn…” and I started to think, why am I never on the subway to some exhibit?  Then I began wondering, how many museums are in NYC? Has anyone ever gone to all of them? I started to look up museums, it’s a bit difficult to get a straight answer about how many museums there are in NYC because some places that are included don’t sound like a museum.  Also there are places that actually have museum in the title and aren’t on the list, like the Museum of Sex.  I’ll save that one for last. So this brings me to my nycmuseumadventures.com blog. I am planning on visiting every museum in the 5 boroughs.  You will be along for the ride.   Getting there, what was the most interesting, surprising, disappointing, gift shops and food.  Some days I may have a guest star along. I hope it will be entertaining and informative.  Maybe you will want to visit one of the off the beaten track museums after reading my blog.  If nothing else, I will have lots of conversation starters for social occasions.  Stay tuned…
